Vision
RGB-PRO
Some
working environments require constant access to RGB/VGA
data from another source. Traditionally this data is
transmitted over special cabling as an analogue RGB
signal for display on dedicated screens which sit
alongside other Windows® based screens. The
drawback of such a solution is that you need an extra
monitor for every RGB data feed and therefore reduced
space in the work environment. The Vision RGB-PRO is
the ideal solution to this problem - and means you can
integrate the RGB data and get rid of the dedicated
terminal.
A standalone PCI plug in card, the Vision RGB-PRO
captures the display output (e.g. the analogue RGB
data) from one computer screen and then displays it as
an independent application, in real time, on your
Windows® desktop. The Vision RGB-PRO2 has two VGA
compatible inputs for simultaneously feeding two
independent data sources directly into your main PC.
The data is then converted on the Vision RGB-PRO and
displayed as a standard Windows® application on
your desktop. All your data in one place, and no need
for that dedicated monitor.
The Vision RGB-PRO can be operated with any standard
graphics adapter and is supplied with Windows 2000 and
XP drivers. For applications requiring improved update
rates and lower system overhead then we recommend
using the iH range of graphics adapters. The Vision
RGB software, when used with the Datapath graphics
cards, implements direct DMA to the graphics texture
memory. The captured RGB is then rendered to the
display using hardware texture mapping to greatly
improve performance. This implementation dramatically
improves update rates when the image is up-scaled as
would be required with video wall and data wall
applications.
Each
part of the up-scaled image is rendered by the
associated graphics processor, effectively parallel
processing the up-scaling process.
The Vision RGB-PRO is also supplied with a powerful
software application for configuring the timing and
the format of the input sources and displaying the
captured data. We also provide an SDK so you can
interface the Vision RGB-PRO to your own applications.

For
streaming applications the Vision RGB-PRO can
be used with Windows Media Encoder to compress
and stream captured video. To replay the video
use Windows Media Player.

The
Vision RGB software application now supports
the recording of captured frames to disk for
subsequent playback using Datapath
VisionPlayer. Both VisionRecorder and
VisionPlayer applications are included in the
latest release of the Vision RGB-PRO driver
and application software.

Features
-
DMA
transfers the data across the PCI bus without
using host CPU cycles.
- When
used with Datapath iH adapters, the CPU load is
negligable even if the image is being upscaled to a
video wall, resulting in real time performance.
-
Hardware
up and downscaling for resizing the captured video
-
The
Vision RGB-PRO uses specialised dual ported video
memory to ensure the highest possible performance
with low system overhead.
-
The
Vision RGB has 6MBytes of video capture memory per
channel and can capture data at 640 x 480, 800 x
600, 1024 x 768 and 1600 x 1200 resolutions. PAL
and NTSC are also supported as well as many non
standard modes.
-
The
Vision RGB-PRO captures data at a maximum pixel
rate of 280MHz. Once captured, the data is
converted to either 555, 565 or 888 pixel display
formats and then transferred over the PCI bus to
host memory, for display on the desktop.
